1 NOTE Mr. William Chaffinch, of Smithville, died on Monday last, aged 82 years. 
2 CONT Dropsy of the heart was the cause of death.  The funeral was held at Concord
2 CONT M.E. Church, of which the deceased had been a member for many years, on
2 CONT Wednesday. Mrs. Chaffinch, who was a Miss Rich, and five children survive. -

1 NOTE At Smithville, Md., on May 30 1898, Mr. William Chaffinch died, in the 82nd
2 CONT year of his age, Mr. Chaffinch was a life-long Christian and was a member of
2 CONT Concord ME Church for over fifty years.  Funeral was held at the Concord Church
2 CONT on June 1st, Rev. Mr. Cochran officiating; interment in the adjacent cemetery.

2 CONT o'clock, Rev. L.B. Morgan officiating.  Internment was made in Concord

1 NOTE One of the most interesting social events of the season was the celebration on
2 CONT Dec 9th of the 25th anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. John Chaffinch
2 CONT at their home near Andersontown.  The guests numbering over 200 arrived early
2 CONT and filed the spacious rooms almost to overflowing until a late
2 CONT hour....Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Chaffinch in the receiving were their two sons
2 CONT and oldest daughter, Blanche, Earl, and Clarence Chaffinch....Among those
2 CONT present were Mr. and Mrs. John Chaffinch,....Clarence Chaffinch,....Helen

1 NOTE John E. Chaffinch, aged 72 years, died at his home in Denton on Thursday,
2 CONT having been fatally stricken the day before.  Funeral services will be held at
2 CONT the home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and interment will be made in Denton
2 CONT cemetery.  The Rev, M.S.  Andrews, pastor of the M.E. Church will officiate. 
2 CONT Mr. Chaffinch was a son of the late William and Alexine Rich Chaffinch, of
2 CONT Williston.  He married Miss Ida M. Sutherland, of Smithville who survives with
2 CONT the following sons and daughters: Clarence E. Chaffinch of Baltimore, and Earl
2 CONT P., of Philadelphia: Misses Blanche and Helen Chaffinch, of Denton.  He leaves
2 CONT also three sisters and a brother--Mrs. John Savage, of Philadelphia; Mrs.
2 CONT Carrie Hubbard, of Federalsburg; Mrs. Lettie Draper, of Wilmington, and James
2 CONT R. Chaffinch, of Seaford, Del.  For the past 13 years, the deceased had been
2 CONT superintendent of the Denton water works, prior to which time he had been

1 NOTE James R. Chaffinch, aged 89, died on Tuesday at his home on Willow Street,
2 CONT Seaford, Del.  Funeral services were held on Friday at 2 p.m. in St. John's
2 CONT Methodist Church on Pine street, with the Rev, Sidney B. Bradley officiating. 
2 CONT Interment was in Odd Fellows cemetery, Seaford,  Mr. Chaffinch was born in
2 CONT Caroline county, the son of William and Alexine Chaffinch, of Concord.  He is
2 CONT survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Evans Chaffinch, and five sons, Harry, Thomas,
2 CONT James, Ernest, of Seaford, Del.; William Chaffinch, of Greenwood; three
2 CONT daughters, Mrs. Anna Carmean, of Seaford; Mrs. Mary Passwaters and Mrs. Violet
2 CONT Austin, of Bridgeville, and thirty nine grandchildren, thirty-three great
2 CONT grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Savage, of Philadelphia, and Mrs.

1 NOTE One of the prettiest weddings of the season was celebrated at Bloomery M.E.
2 CONT Church on Wednesday night of this week.  The contracting parties were Mr. John
2 CONT E. Chaffinch and Miss Ida M. Southerland, the ceremony being performed by Rev.
2 CONT James H. Rich.  The church had been tastefully trimmed for the iccasion by
2 CONT friends of the pair and when the happy couple came into the church, preceded by
2 CONT the ushers, Messrs. Norman Vanscoy and Snadrach Liden, marching to the strains
2 CONT of the wedding march, rendered by Mrs. Enna Rosser, everybody expressed or felt
2 CONT their admiration.  After the ceremoney Mr. and Mrs. Chaffinch were given an
